Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) - I want to support activities aimed at suppressing and condemning hatred against women and girls, President Peter Pellegrini stated, pledging his support to outgoing Dutch Ambassador Gabriella Sancisi, whom he received on Tuesday. Together they planted orange tulips in the Presidential Garden as a symbol of friendship and good relations between Slovakia and the Netherlands. Pellegrini's predecessor Zuzana Caputova also supported the violence against women initiative. "The [Dutch] ambassador will convene all ambassadors and together we'll send a signal that Slovakia is also a country where hatred against women and girls is not tolerated just because they are women. They shouldn't be subjected to pressure, hatred and, heaven forbid, violence for this," said the head of state. According to Pellegrini, Sancisi contributed to the development of relations between Slovakia and the Netherlands. In her words, it was an honour to be ambassador to Slovakia. It was also a pleasure for her to get to know the country, to meet many good people and to learn some Slovak. "I met the ambassador very often in different positions. She was a very active ambassador who hasn't only participated in activities in Bratislava, but has visited all corners of Slovakia," he said. Pellegrini pointed out that the Netherlands is one of the biggest investors in Slovakia, noting that there are many companies operating here that have their headquarters in the Netherlands. "I'm glad that the Netherlands is thriving here, that it employs a lot of people and new investors are coming," said the president, pointing out that a new Dutch investor is to come to Vranov nad Toplou (Presov region), where it will create more than 700 new jobs in the production of heat pumps. am/mcs
