SHMU: October Was Normal to Above-normal in Most of Slovakia

Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) - October was normal to above-normal in most of Slovakia, with the deviation of the average monthly air temperature ranging from 0.2 to 3.2 degrees Celsius, according to a preliminary assessment published by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) on a social network on Tuesday.
"The highest average monthly air temperature of 12.3 degrees Celsius was in Gabcikovo (Trnava region), and the lowest average monthly air temperature of 6 degrees Celsius was in the village of Stratena - Dobsinska ice cave," noted SHMU.
The absolute highest air temperature so far was reported on October 10 in Hurbanovo (Nitra region), where it was 25.3 degrees Celsius. The lowest air temperature of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius was recorded on October 19 in the village of Polomka (Banska Bystrica region). In the high mountain area, the temperature was minus 10.7 degrees Celsius, on the Lomnicky Stit peak.
In terms of precipitation, SHMU tentatively rates October as below-normal (dry) to normal (compared to the 30-year average precipitation between 1991 and 2020).
