PS: Our Motion to Cut Red Tape Rejected For Fourth Time Without Discussion

Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) - Opposition's Progressive Slovakia (PS) submitted for the fourth time already its motion to cut red tape, aimed at facilitating dealing with banks, insurance and telecommunication companies for the citizens, yet the hodgepodge of Robert Fico (Smer-SD) doesn't care whether or not the people spend hours visiting public administration offices because all they care about is themselves, MP Jan Hargas (PS) stated on Tuesday. "Our proposal is about saving the people needless trips to offices over printouts that the state already has in its registries. It's a so-called 'one time is enough' principle. We want banks, telecommunication operators and insurers to be granted the capability to verify these data directly in the state registries," he said. "Of course, this would happen only with the consent of the individuals concerned. It would save both time and money to the people, as today every single printout costs more than €13. More than 350,000 of those are issued annually, which translates into needless costs," explained Hargas. Such slashing of red tape would bring annual savings of more than €4.5 million and make life simpler both to the people and businesses. "Unfortunately, even this proposal was dismissed without any expert discussion. We hope it will meet with support one day. This bill genuinely reduces bureaucracy that nobody wants or offers a real solution," added Hargas. mf/mcs
