Bratislava, November 6 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on winning the presidential election in the USA, wishing him and the American people many successes. "Our countries are united by common values of freedom and democracy. I confirm that Slovakia remains a reliable and responsible ally in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. I believe in continuing our cooperation, and I'm confident that relations between the USA and Slovakia, as well as the whole of Europe, will continue to develop in a positive direction," said Pellegrini, as cited by his office. Republican Party candidate Donald Trump declared himself the winner of the presidential election in the USA on Wednesday night local time. Of the major US media, only Fox News considers him to be a certain winner as things stand, although other media outlets have admitted that he is likely to defeat the Democratic Party's candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the election. A candidate needs at least 270 Electoral College votes to be elected. According to television channel CNN, Trump has secured 266 so far, while Harris has only 205. zel/df
