Bratislava, November 6 (TASR) - The results of the US presidential election are the decision of the voters, said Slovak ministers in reaction to Donald Trump's unofficial victory on Wednesday.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) remarked that Trump has won a free and democratic election. "I believe that his victory will change many things in the USA, but that it will also change many things here in Europe," he said, stressing expectations that come with hope for an end to ongoing conflicts in the world, in particular the war in Ukraine. "I am curious to see how he'll help to contribute, even in the context of his previous statements on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The whole world will be watching this with excitement," said the interior minister.
Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenicky (Smer-SD) said that he considers the election of Trump to be a better solution for the world. "I hope that this will be reflected in achieving peace in the world earlier. From our point of view, of course, the end of the conflict in Ukraine is crucial," stressed Kamenicky, also pointing to Trump's previous statements to this effect.
Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Voice-SD) said that he respects the will of the US people, adding that he considers it important to evaluate the nature of the campaigns that accompanied the presidential election.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Boris Susko (Smer-SD), also said that he considers the results to be a decision of US voters, opining that the election of Trump won't mean a fundamental or significant change for Slovakia, however.
Republican Party candidate Donald Trump declared himself the winner of the presidential election in the USA on Wednesday night local time. Of the major US media, only Fox News considers him to be a certain winner as things stand, although other media outlets have admitted that he is likely to defeat the Democratic Party's candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the election.
