Monitor: Sutaj Estok: Danko Needs to Put his House in Order

10. novembra 2024 20:45
(TA3, 'V politike', November 10) Chair of the Slovak National Party (SNS) Andrej Danko needs to resolve the disputes between him and lawmakers centered around MP Rudolf Huliak (Independent) so that the coalition can keep going and govern the country, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) declared on TA3's discussion programme 'V politike' (In Politics) on Sunday. Sutaj Estok underlined that the post of House chair, vacant since the 2024 presidential election in April, belongs to Voice-SD and the party will demand its nominee to be elected at the November session. Leader of the opposition's Progressive Slovakia (PS) Michal Simecka, also on the show, pointed out that the Government has already postponed several votes due to its temporary lack of majority and three coalition lawmakers even blocked Parliament. "Everyone carries responsibility over their own caucus, this is the responsibility of the SNS party. If some things happen in ours, I'll deal with it as the Voice-SD chair," claimed Sutaj Estok. He added that it's possible to hold a discussion on changes to the political system that Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) talked about on Saturday (November 9). Simecka criticised the consolidation of public finances, stating that some social measures burden the state budget unduly and Slovakia cannot afford them. "For instance, we wouldn't have done across-the-board compensations of energy prices," he underlined. Sutaj Estok said that the Government plans to fire ten percent of state employees in the capital city. mf
