Bratislava, November 11 (TASR) - A total of 504,000 individuals spent at least one night in Slovak hotels, guest houses or spas in September, a drop of 8.3 percent in yearly terms, the Statistics Office has reported. This was only the second time this year that hotels and similar facilities saw fewer guests than last year, with a similar scenario occurring previously in April, the office added. In September, guests spent more than 1.2 million nights in these establishments, which was 10.2 percent fewer than the year before. The average length of stay was 2.4 nights. The overall result was mainly affected by a year-on-year decline in domestic guests. Their number shrank by more than 9 percent when compared to September 2023. Domestic visitors accounted for almost two-thirds of all guests, with their number reaching 314,000. Meanwhile, the number of foreign guests dropped by 8 percent year-on-year to 189,000. The most-frequently visited region in September was Bratislava region, which welcomed over 127,000 guests who spent at least one night there. As for the January-September period, Slovak hotels and similar establishments accommodated nearly 4.6 million guests, a yearly increase of almost 2 percent. Both the number of domestic and foreign guests grew at rates of up to 2 percent. zel/df
