Tourism and Sport Minister Keketi Visits Portugal

Bratislava, November 11 (TASR) - The Tourism and Sport Ministry is interested in using the experience of Portugal when developing digital strategies, as it could contribute towards making Slovak destinations more attractive to foreign tourists, Tourism Minister Dusan Keketi (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) has said following his trip to Portugal last week.
"Portugal can offer Slovakia examples of good practice, as more than two and a half million tourists from all over the world visit this country every month. Moreover, thanks to modern digital tools, they have excellent monitoring of incoming travellers, which allows them to analyse and target the right segments of tourists well. Sports tourism is also important for this country on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, as many visitors travel to Portugal for sporting experiences," said Keketi.
During his visit, the minister met Portuguese State Secretary for Tourism Pedro Machado, head of the Turisme de Portugal agency Carlos Abad and Sport State Secretary Pedro Dias. The two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to developing sustainable tourism that protects natural and cultural heritage, in line with the European strategy.
They also stressed the importance of exchanging experiences in the field of tourism that could help to promote sustainable tourism, and they discussed ways of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises that are an important element of the sector.
In the field of sport, the representatives discussed cooperation in youth sport, putting emphasis on the importance of supporting sporting activities for youth. They agreed on options for Slovak and Portuguese coaches to exchange training methods, especially when it comes to football.
