Wanted Slovak Convicted of Murdering Ex-girlfriend Arrested in Italy

Banska Bystrica, November 11 (TASR) - Marian Vyborny from the town of Revuca in Banska Bystrica region, who has been the subject of a European Arrest Warrant, was detained in Rome on Monday, TASR has learnt from Banska Bystrica region police. Vyborny was previously convicted of the premeditated murder of his former girlfriend. In 2022, he deliberately caused a head-on collision between two cars that led to the death of his ex-girlfriend. His alleged motive was property disputes. On the day of the murder, the man checked with the ex-girlfriend's son when his mother would be returning to Revuca and whether she would be alone in the car. At the same time, he searched for terms such as manslaughter in a fit of rage, murder and a range of criminal penalties. The Supreme Court found Vyborny guilty of the aforementioned crime on November 6. The search for him was announced on November 7, and the European Arrest Warrant was issued the following day. The court sentenced him to 25 years. Banska Bystrica regional police received information about the arrest from their Italian counterparts on Monday morning. The man was detained in the Italian capital early on Monday morning. He is now being held in extradition detention in Italy. zel/df
