Prima Ballerina Augusta Herenyiova-Starostova Dies Aged 94

Bratislava, November 11 (TASR) - Augusta Herenyiova-Starostova, one of the most remarkable prima ballerinas of the Slovak National Theatre Ballet (SND), died in Bratislava on Monday at the age of 94, TASR was told by SND press secretary Izabela Pazitkova. Augusta Herenyiova-Starostova belonged to the generation of the first Slovak soloists, graduates of the Ella Fuchs-Lehotska private school. She joined the Slovak National Theatre in 1947, became a soloist in 1950 and in 1977 became ballet master and assistant choreographer. She remained faithful to the first ballet scene for 37 years. Augusta Herenyiova was born on May 6, 1930 in Bratislava. She received the 'For Outstanding Work' award (1960), the 'Merited Artist' title (1966), and the Literary Fund Award for Lifetime Achievement (1995). President Andrej Kiska conferred on her the high state decoration of the Pribina Cross First Class in 2015. am/mcs
