Demanovska Dolina/Bratislava, November 13 (TASR) - During its promotion of Slovakia abroad, Slovakia Travel not only focuses on traditional markets such as the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, and agency director Ivana Vala Magatova at a conference called HORECA Excellence Summit 2024 presented specific steps to support tourism and target markets in Scandinavia, Japan and China, for example, TASR learnt on Wednesday.
In the current winter marketing campaign, Slovakia Travel is promoting the beauty of Slovak nature. "We came up with unorthodox ways of promotion as well, such as a campaign in the underground and on a tram in the capital city of the Czech Republic, and we've also focused on airports and cruise ships in Europe," stated Vala Magatova. As of January, the agency will have a permanent representation in the north of Europe.
The agency signed memoranda of cooperation with representatives of the Tourism and Sport Ministry and the Slovak Hotel and Restaurants Association at the conference, aimed at supporting systemic and sustainable development of tourism in Slovakia. In this context, Tourism Minister Dusan Keketi cited positive changes accomplished since his ministry was formed. "For instance, we passed legislative changes to the benefit of the sector, cut VAT [for tourism-related services] and conducted other changes," he said.
