Bratislava, November 14 (TASR) - Former MP Gyorgy Gyimesi is set to become Environment Minister Tomas Taraba's (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) advisor on the process of completing sewerage and water-supply systems in villages in southern Slovakia, TASR learnt on Thursday. The minister in this vein pointed to Rye Island (Zitny Ostrov) in southern Slovakia, the largest reservoir of drinking water in both Slovakia and Central Europe, which as such must be protected. Both Taraba and Gyimesi perceive the policy of advocating for the public interest as a common goal, particularly when it comes to issues of building public sewerage and water-supply systems. "In many areas, I share similar views and positions with Mr. Taraba. After years of failing to resolve the real problems of the public, even in southern Slovakia, we are now launching cooperation because the people of Slovakia, regardless of which part they live in, have the right to the same quality of life," Gyimesi remarked. The Environment Ministry claimed on this note that it's been carrying out this process under Taraba's leadership at the fastest pace ever. This year it has allegedly spent more than €300 million for this purpose. zel/df
