Working Group to Address Situation in Health Sector Meets for First Time

Bratislava, November 18 (TASR) - A working group meant to deal with the situation in the health sector met for the first time at the Health Ministry on Monday afternoon. Head of the Medical Trade Union Association (LOZ) Peter Visolajsky claimed before the meeting that it'll address agreements between hospitals and health insurance companies. Visolajsky noted in this vein that the agreements should be transparent, accessible to the public and easily auditable as they concern nearly €3 billion. More than 3,300 doctors in hospitals across Slovakia have filed resignation notices in a show of unhappiness with the situation prevailing in health care. The doctors have also started considering refusing to engage in overtime shifts. They are willing to withdraw the notices if the government starts meeting their demands, mainly insisting that a memorandum signed with the LOZ by the then government in 2022 should be observed. zel/mcs
