Bratislava, November 18 (TASR) - An official Slovak delegation is expected to travel to Portugal in the first half of next year as a part of a business mission to expand the activities of economic diplomacy, TASR learnt from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs on Monday.
"Portugal is a country that prioritises innovative projects, so we plan to organise a business mission in Lisbon focused on companies developing modern digital technologies. The aim is for Slovak companies to find new partners and expand further with the help of foreign investment," said Foreign Affairs Ministry State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec.
Chovanec discussed the further development of cooperation between Slovakia and Portugal with Joao Rui Ferreira, the Portuguese State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, during the Web Summit technology conference in Lisbon. In their bilateral meeting, the representatives of the two ministries also addressed the possibilities for supporting innovative enterprises and the need to enhance the competitiveness of the European Union.
More than 70,000 entrepreneurs, investors, technology leaders, and policymakers attended this year's Web Summit. "I am pleased that this year Slovakia sent its largest delegation ever, with over a hundred companies. These are companies with great potential to make a global impact with their innovative products," said Chovanec.
