Solak: Both Police Officers Involved in Death of Detainee Will Be Dismissed

Bratislava, November 18 (TASR) - Both the police officers whose intervention led to the death of a detained person in Kosice on November 5 will be dismissed, police chief Lubomir Solak reported on Monday. Solak explained that the police officer who only witnessed the incident has been suspended in the meantime. The officer who's been charged with manslaughter has been remanded in custody. On November 5, the charged police officer beat up a suspect apprehended over a theft in a grocery store so severely that the victim died the next day in hospital. He might spend 12-15 years in prison if found guilty. No charges have been pressed against the officer who witnessed the incident so far. zel/mcs
