Melicher: US Permission for Using Missiles against Russia Denial of Democracy

Bratislava, November 19 (TASR) - The United States' authorisation for Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles on targets in Russia is a demonstration of cowardice and an active denial of democracy, according to a social media post by Defence Ministry State Secretary Igor Melicher. "For two years, Biden has denied Ukraine this possibility because there was still a chance of a 'Democratic' victory in the presidential election. Now that the election is over and the new president has not yet taken up office, Biden and his administration have made a cowardly move," opined Melicher. According to the state secretary, by allocating nearly €400 billion to the military sector, the European Union is confirming its intention to prolong the war in Ukraine and "to shift the burden of financing it from the United States' budget onto the shoulders of the Europeans". On Sunday, November 17, US President Joe Biden for the first time authorised Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by the United States to strike targets on Russia's territory. tl/df/zel
