Vaduz, November 21 (TASR-correspondent) - Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar officially opened a Slovak honorary consulate in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, on Wednesday, in the presence of new honorary consul Matus Gemes and Liechtenstein's Foreign Ministry representative Martin Frick, a TASR correspondent has reported.
"I firmly believe that this will be a contribution to our economic diplomacy, despite the fact that we are opening a consulate in a small country. I'm confident it will attract more investments from Liechtenstein to Slovakia, which will support our economic growth," said Blanar.
Frick expressed his hope that the Slovak consul will be an important mediator between the governments of the two countries. He emphasised that Slovakia is becoming an increasingly important economic partner, noting that Liechtenstein companies employ 700 people in Slovakia.
A special reception was held to mark the occasion, attended by Slovaks living in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. The honorary consulate in Vaduz will provide consular services to Slovaks working in the country.
Slovakia established diplomatic relations with Liechtenstein only in 2009. It was represented there by ministry representative Fabian Frick until 2022.
