Vaduz, November 21 (TASR-correspondent) - Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) met Liechtenstein's Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler to discuss economic cooperation on Wednesday, a TASR correspondent has reported.
Blanar stated that although Liechtenstein is a small country, it is one of the wealthiest in the world in terms of GDP per capita. According to the minister, this is proof that even a small country can be successful. The head of Slovak diplomacy attributed Liechtenstein's success primarily to innovation. The ministers also discussed vocational training, which has a strong tradition in Liechtenstein and Switzerland and is carried out in cooperation with local companies.
In addition, Blanar and Hasler addressed a number of current geopolitical issues, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. They agreed that it is crucial for countries to uphold international law. Blanar expressed his view that many countries apply double standards in their approach to global conflicts.
In this context, the head of Slovak diplomacy expressed his interest in Slovakia being active at the multilateral level. As an example, he mentioned Slovakia's candidacy for a non-permanent UN Security Council seat for the 2028-2029 period.
