Bratislava, November 21 (TASR) - The traditional Christmas market in Bratislava's Old Town began on Hviezdoslav Square on Thursday, but it will be officially opened by the lighting of the Christmas tree on Friday (November 22).
The Old Town's Christmas market in the historical centre of Bratislava will be concluded by the Three Kings Parade on January 6.
A total of 56 kiosks will be open, with 27 of them offering gastronomic specialties, 15 beverages and ten various gifts. Four kiosks have been reserved for NGOs and cultural institutions. Space for alternative menus has been created in the Christmas street food zone where Hviezdoslav and Rybne Squares meet.
One new feature of the market is a 'non-profit bus' where NGOs, non-profit organisations and cultural institutions will present their activities and products. It will be located near the Nativity Scene.
There will also be a special Ukrainian programme with creative workshops, tastings of traditional specialties, presentations of local crafts and musical and dance performances.
The main cultural programme will take place on the stage in front of the old building of the Slovak National Theatre.
Visitors will be able to separate waste at four sorting stations.
