Bratislava, November 25 (TASR) - The peaceful coexistence of Slovaks and ethnic Hungarians living in Slovakia is of vital importance for the stability of the country, declared Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) after his meeting with Hungarian Alliance party chair Laszlo Gubik and vice-chair Peter Ory on Monday. "As the Slovak prime minister, I'm fully aware that we have common ground with citizens of Hungarian ethnicity as well as Hungarian political representation when it comes to topics such as sovereign foreign policy, combating illegal migration and, in particular, the issue of peace in Ukraine," stated Fico in his post on a social network. Fico informed representatives of the Hungarian Alliance that he cares about preserving the status quo for members of ethnic groups living in Slovakia. He stated that they went over several constructive proposals regarding the financing of the regions. The prime minister also declared that Slovak-Hungarian cohabitation in Slovakia is no longer a political issue used in election campaigns. He also praised the "friendly and constructive" dialogue that he enjoys with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. mf/df
