President Rejects Violence of Any Kind, Including against Women and Girls

Bratislava, November 25 (TASR) - I reject any kind of violence, including that against women and girls, President Peter Pellegrini posted on a social network on Monday, on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, adding that in his view, society must send a clear signal that such manifestations must not be tolerated. "That's why I've joined the global 'Orange the World' campaign, which is part of the UN's global initiative," wrote the head of state. The president mentioned that the orange colour has become the symbol of the international day to denote hope for women and girls who have to face violence. He also wrote that the orange colour draws attention to the fact that this type of violence is one of the most widespread in the world. Pellegrini announced that the Presidential Palace will be illuminated with this colour on Monday night. am/mcs
