Bratislava, November 27 (TASR) - The Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry wants to purchase unnecessary software for farmers worth €20 million, representatives of the opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party stated at a press conference on Wednesday, adding that the operation of the computer system will cost €700,000 a year. "In this form, under these circumstances, in this economic situation, in this setting, the Agriculture Ministry is going to spend €20 million on completely unnecessary software called Farmer," said MP Alojz Hlina. The opposition lawmaker stressed that according to an analysis of the Finance Ministry's Value for Money Unit, the purchase of the software in question "doesn't make sense". "The software's user capability is widely available in the market and is widely used by medium-sized and larger farmers. Their price ranges between €150-300 per year," stressed Hlina. am/mcs
