President: Only Time Will Tell Whether Fico Will Go to Moscow for Celebrations

Trencin, November 27 (TASR) - Only time will tell whether Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will go to Moscow to celebrate the end of the Second World War, President Peter Pellegrini told a press conference in Trencin on Wednesday, adding that it is the premier's right to do so.
"He [Fico] has been expressing this interest of his for a long time, it is his legitimate right, I won't comment on it. He isn't there yet and May 9 is a long way off. We'll see in the end how it all turns out," said the head of state.
Pellegrini also noted that in the case of Parliamentary Vice-chair Andrej Danko's (Slovak National Party/SNS) intention to go on a working trip to Russia, the decisive word is in the hands of Parliamentary Vice-chairman entrusted with the powers of House Chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD). He thinks that once relations with Russia are to be restored after the end of the war in Ukraine, the visits should be at a level that can arrange and agree on something. All other visits are, in his opinion, useless.
Fico said on Wednesday that he had received an invitation to attend the Russian celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in Moscow and had accepted it.
