Trencin, November 27 (TASR) - Trencin self-governing region is one of the leaders in dual education, and in secondary education it takes care of the needs of the labour market, President Peter Pellegrini pointed out on Wednesday during his regional trip to Trencin.
"Professional organisations and employers themselves state that it is Trencin region and its vocational education that responds most to the real needs of the labour market, that is secondary schools in Trencin region produce exactly such future employees as required by the industries and companies operating in the region. And this is of course a great success," stressed Pellegrini.
Trencin governor Jaroslav Baska explained that 26 secondary vocational schools, more than 180 companies and over 1,400 pupils are currently involved in the dual education system. "I'm very glad that the region, but also our secondary schools are listening to the employers who are here in Trencin region and respond to their requirements," noted Baska.
Pellegrini also touched upon the issue of the European Capital of Culture, which Trencin is to become in 2026. In this context, he pointed out that it'll probably be necessary to negotiate a possible increase in the funds approved by the government during 2025, as there will be an increase in the prices of materials and services due to inflation, as well as an increase in value-added tax.
In this context, Trencin mayor Richard Rybnicek assured the head of state that the city together with Trencin region will manage issues related to the European Capital of Culture, they will also manage the investments, including in the city, in the surroundings or in the castle, and they will represent Slovakia in a dignified manner both as a region and as the city of Trencin and all the towns and villages in the region.
