Bratislava, November 29 (TASR) - The Office for Slovaks Living Abroad (USZZ) and the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) concluded a memorandum of cooperation this week, aimed at firming up ties between Slovakia and Slovaks living abroad as well as to underline the importance of up-to-date, trustworthy and public news reporting for Slovak communities in the world.
"Our aim is to bolster the news that Slovaks who live abroad have about home. We've created a new correspondent post in Vojvodina and are preparing another one in Poland," said TASR general director Vladimir Puchala.
The goal of the project is not only to bring Slovaks abroad up-to-date information from home, but also to create mechanisms for long-term and efficient cooperation between Slovakia and its diaspora as well. "This deal is not only the symbol of our commitment towards expats, but also a practical step to make sure that they feel like a solid part of Slovak society wherever in the world they are," claimed USZZ chair Dagmar Repcekova.
