NDS: People Can Drive from D1 Directly to Bratislava Bypass as of Saturday

Bratislava, December 1 (TASR) - Motorists have been able to drive from the D1 motorway directly to the Bratislava bypass in the direction from Trnava as of Saturday (November 30) evening, the National Highway Company (NDS) told TASR on Sunday, adding that the works on the construction will continue next year. "The early opening of the motorway was enabled by both the high engagement of staff and unexpectedly favourable weather conditions, especially a dry and sunny Saturday," said NDS, adding that next year's phase will see the restoration of bridge structures and the rest of the D1 motorway. The company stressed that the reconstruction of the section was necessary after decades of use. The reconstruction and widening of D1, the D1/D4 intersection interconnection represent the most significant investment in the road infrastructure in western Slovakia. In the end, a full four-lane road will be created on the section. am
