Bratislava, December 1 (TASR) - The Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee, the Slovak Football Association and the Slovak Ice-hockey Federation have supported the amendments to the laws on sport and on the Sports Support Fund, considering the proposed legislation to be beneficial for sport and well prepared, TASR has learnt from their website. "The amendments to both laws passed through a standard legislative process and the entire public had the opportunity to comment on them in an inter-ministerial comment procedure," the Olympic committee said in a statement. The football association and others sent some comments and several of them were accepted and incorporated. According to the ice-hockey federation, the proposed legislation has the potential to move Slovak sport to a higher level. Together with the Olympic committee, it calls on MPs to support it. MPs are due to vote on the draft amendments to the Sports Support Fund Act and the Sports Act on Thursday (December 5). They should have been originally decided on Wednesday (November 27), however, not enough MPs were present in the House before the vote on the amendment to the Sports Act, including Samuel Migal (Voice-SD), who objected that his amendment hadn't been accepted. According to him, the legislation still needs to be refined, the Slovak National Party (SNS) didn't comment factually on his observations and the amendments don't contain changes in favour of athletes. SNS called on MP Migal to reconsider his approach to the amendments. According to the party, Migal's actions endanger the "historically" largest financial package for sport worth €60 million. am
