Bratislava, December 2 (TASR) - Comenius University in Bratislava is introducing online lessons at one of its faculties until the end of the semester as a precautionary measure, due to a diagnosis of hepatitis A in a student of the faculty, TASR has learnt from University spokeswoman Eva Kopecka. "The faculty where the outbreak has occurred is transitioning to online learning. Although the risk of community spread is low, we are notifying all students, postgraduates and staff as a precaution," Kopecka said, adding that the infected student does not live on campus. The Regional Public Health Office (RUVZ) will contact people who were in close contact with the infected person. Hepatitis A is a contagious disease caused by the hepatitis A virus that leads to viral inflammation of the liver. It is primarily transmitted through unwashed hands, in group settings and via food or water contaminated with the virus. The disease typically starts with flu-like symptoms and gastrointestinal symptoms, including abdominal pain, joint pain, general malaise, fever, and dark urine. A few days later, jaundice may develop in the patient. lin/mcs/ko
