The Hague/Bratislava, December 2 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) told journalists on Monday that he will provide a more comprehensive report on the situation in the health sector at this week’s government session and present a solution regarding the resignation notices of doctors following the tripartite meeting on December 9.
Sasko says he will submit amending proposals to the budget. He is preparing draft legislative changes that will ensure smooth provision of health care throughout Slovakia, which he was tasked with by the government to prepare. "It is true that budgetary possibilities are limited. I am doing my best to meet the demands of the medical trade unions," Sasko said. He reiterated that the unionists insist on the implementation of the entire memorandum concluded between them and the government.
More than 3,300 doctors in hospitals across Slovakia have already filed resignation notices in a show of unhappiness with the situation prevailing in health care. The doctors are also considering submitting overtime work notices. They are willing to withdraw them if the government starts meeting their demands. They first and foremost insist that the points of the memorandum from 2022 should be met. They also want the government to publicly declare that state-run hospitals won't be transformed into joint-stock companies.
