Bratislava, December 3 (TASR) - The second attempt on Tuesday to open a special House session with a no-confidence motion in Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) being a sole point on the agenda failed, as Parliament was again inquorate, with only 58 legislators present.
MPs will again try to dismiss the interior minister at the next regular House session, scheduled for February.
The special House session was initiated by the opposition, which wants minister Sutaj Estok to go due to the current situation in the Police Corps, the failure to address police brutality and bomb threats in schools. The opposition also wants Sutaj Estok to assume responsibility for the bullying of investigators who were working on high-profile corruption cases and for the dissemination of hoaxes.
MPs were supposed to deal with the minister's ouster already last week. However, the coalition adjourned the deliberations on the proposal to February, as Parliament wasn't quorate. As the reason for the adjournment, Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) then cited the opposition's refusal to cooperate constructively after the debate on the proposal had been reduced to 12 hours.
