Zacharova: MPs Should Not Adopt Legal Framework for Lobbying by NGOs

Bratislava, November 3 (TASR) - According to Simona Zacharova, the government plenipotentiary for developing civil society, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, MPs shouldn't adopt a legal framework for regulating lobbying by non-governmental non-profit organisations (NGOs). "I consider the legislative regulation of lobbying in Slovak legislation to be a very important element of transparency, but only if it applies comprehensively to all legal and natural persons. This should be prepared in a participatory manner, through a proper legislative process, and in accordance with EU regulations," said Zacharova, who is also vice-chair of the Slovak Government Council for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organisations. Additionally, on Tuesday, the Government Council discussed the entire amendment to this law, as well as the transaction tax, which will ultimately not apply to NGOs. lin/df/am
