Bratislava, December 3 (TASR) - Parliament turned down on Tuesday a proposal, sponsored by opposition's PS, to introduce two days off work for women who suffered miscarriage or a stillbirth. The bill was submitted by MPs Lucia Plavakova and Simona Petrik (both PS). The lawmakers specified that women who miscarried are theoretically eligible for a temporary sick leave, but are not always able to claim it. "A woman who just lost her fetus cannot be expected to carry out sick leave duties at this mentally agonizing time of her life, such as acquiring the necessary forms or complying with home convalescence terms. Time off work in the wake of miscarriage should not be subject to any such conditions," read the bill. mf
