Bratislava, December 9 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) is expressing its dissatisfaction with the current state of education, particularly in terms of the shortage of teachers and professionals, stated MPs Jan Horecky (KDH) and Andrej Ziarovsky (KDH) at a press conference on Monday. The movement also pointed to outdated conditions at schools that don't take into account the arrival of artificial intelligence and other technologies. "It's a well-known fact that we're facing a shortage of health-care workers, doctors, nuclear operators, specialists, technicians, developers and experts from all kinds of fields," said Horecky, adding that Slovakia is also experiencing a shortage of 2,000 teachers. Horecky noted that children in schools are not being prepared for new systems in production, the economy and services. He said that teachers need support, calling on the Education Ministry and the government to act in this regard. Ziarovsky pointed to a shortage of experts in fields such as physics and engineering, adding that when older generations of professionals retire, the country will lack the skilled capacity to sustain the energy and engineering sectors. He also raised concerns about the shortage of skilled professionals in the nuclear-power sector. lin/df
