Bratislava, December 10 (TASR) - Bratislava I Municipal Court has found Roman P. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] guilty of engaging in sexual abuse at the Chachaland children's camp.
The court handed down a suspended sentence of two years with two years of probation to Roman P. At the same time, it obliged him to pay over €7,000 in compensation to the victim. The verdict isn't yet final, as the prosecutor kept the deadline for appeal.
The court justified its verdict mainly by pointing out that witness testimonies and other evidence were sufficient to convict Roman P. of the crime. It opted for a suspended sentence as there's no perceived fear of re-offending, and Roman P. has been living a decent life since committing the crime. The court also pointed out that sexual abuse also took place outside the camp.
According to the indictment, the sexual abuse in the camp took place between 2003 and 2006, when the aggrieved party was a minor.
