Brussels, December 16 (TASR-correspondent) - Slovakia has enough gas for 2025, Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) stated following the meeting of the EU Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council in Brussels on Monday, adding that it has been trying to find more partners for gas supplies for a long time. Sakova pointed out that the ministers were addressed by new European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen, who introduced his vision for EU energy policy. He also presented a pledge to submit a plan within 100 days for fulfilling the Green Deal and a zero-emission industry, while boosting competitiveness, as energy prices in the EU are three to four times higher than in the US, for example. According to her, they also debated building the EU energy market and completing the single electricity and transmission system within the single market in order to remove the gaps in interconnection between countries. "So that we can better react when a country has a surplus of electricity and vice versa, another country has a higher demand, so that the operations centre can then compensate for this without any constraints. Slovakia is joining this initiative," she stated. The Slovak minister praised the "good work" of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the field of geothermal energy, which resulted in specific recommendations to the European Commission to look for instruments to promote geothermal energy, especially for the production of heat for towns and villages. Meanwhile, Sakova appreciated that the EU foreign ministers on Monday approved the extension of the exemption for Slovakia to export products made from Russian oil. am
