Bratislava, December 23 (TASR) - The Voice-SD party won't comment on Premier Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) business trip to Moscow, Russia, for now, adding that it expects Fico to present the results of the negotiations at the next coalition session, TASR has learnt from the party's press department.
"For the Voice-SD party, Slovakia is firmly anchored in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, which is clear from the government's programme statement as well as from the memorandum signed by the premier, alongside the president and head of the Parliament," they noted.
The Voice-SD also stated that Russia still remains a strategic supplier of mineral resources. "That is why the economy minister [Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) e.d. note] has undertaken a business trip to Russia to secure more strategically advantageous and cheaper raw materials for Slovakia," the party added.
Labour Minister Erik Tomas (Voice-SD also commented on the premier's trip. He described it as sensitive from the international perspective. "On the other hand, the premier had informed us that he plans to visit both Russia and Ukraine in the upcoming weeks and days because of issues with gas supplies. So, we will be curious to see what the outcome of these negotiations is," he stated.
