KDH Blasts Fico for his Visit of Russia and Foreign Policy

Bratislava, December 27 (TASR) - Opposition KDH criticised recent steps of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), particularly Fico's unannounced visit to the Kremlin without informing the public about its purpose and Fico's heated exchange of views with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, TASR learnt from party spokesperson Lenka Kovar on Friday. "Robert Fico is not a peacemaker. A person in the important position of a peacemaker must inspire respect from all sides involved - particularly the two sides between which the talks should be held," stated KDH. It noted that at a recent EU summit, Fico once again took the side of Russia in all geopolitical issues discussed. KDH pointed out that the first information about the main goal of Fico's visit of the Kremlin came from Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov. "As time passes, we learn, once again from the media of the state that calls us [Slovakia] the enemy, that the meeting contained also an invitation to peace talks. And all of this comes at the time when Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine and the Russian minister emphasised that a truce is a dead-end road," it added. mf/mcs
