Culture Ministry: Slovakia to Welcome 2025 with New Version of National Anthem

Bratislava, December 31 (TASR) - A new version of the Slovak anthem will be broadcast on public television and radio after midnight on New Year's Eve, the Culture Ministry stated on Tuesday, adding that the anthem will be accompanied by a video clip showing pictures of Slovakia in the first minutes of the New Year on public-service broadcaster STVR. The new version of the national anthem will be performed live for the first time at 7 p.m. on January 1 during a New Year concert of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be broadcast live on STVR. "The new arrangement of the national anthem is recommended as the official national anthem of the Slovak Republic in accordance with the guidelines of the Interior Ministry and can be played at all official events," said ministry spokeswoman Petra Bacinska. "The new version will be available on the websites of the Interior and Culture Ministries, from which institutions and the public will be able to download it free of charge and use it," she added. The author of the new version of the national anthem is Slovak songwriter, conductor and producer Oskar Rozsa. am/df
