Blanar: Slovak Statehood Marks 32nd Anniversary of Its Independence

Bratislava, January 1 (TASR) - Slovak statehood marks the 32nd anniversary of its independence in the New Year, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) said on Wednesday, calling for a celebration of Slovakia's history, TASR was told by the ministry's communication department on Wednesday. "Slovakia is a sovereign, independent and self-confident state, where we honour the values of democracy, peace, freedom, humanity and where we'll continue to work for our citizens in the coming year in the service of the national-state interests of Slovakia," said the minister, stressing that the Slovak Republic is anchored in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, and is a member of other important international organisations and groupings. According to the ministry, Slovak diplomacy will continue to sovereignly promote national interests oriented in all four cardinal directions. am/mcs
