Ziga: No Major Reconstruction of Government in 2025

Bratislava, January 3 (TASR) - No major reconstruction of the government will take place in 2025, TASR has learnt in an interview with House Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD), who's been tasked with heading Parliament on a temporary basis, adding that he doesn't consider an early general election to be realistic either, as it would require the votes of 90 MPs.
"I can't see any major reconstruction of the government on the political spectrum or in the political context of the year. I'm not saying that some ministers can't be replaced if they want to leave or are dismissed by the premier or by the party that nominated them, but I can't see a fundamental reconstruction of the government," stated Ziga.
Ziga also believes that it wouldn't be possible to find 90 MPs who would vote in favour of shortening the parliamentary term, which precedes the calling of an early election.
However, Ziga also stated that all scenarios should be taken into account. "You must always have the scenario of an early election in mind, as such a situation can occur. How real that is, is another thing," he said. "You always work with the fact that the election campaign for the next election starts as of the first day after the general election," he added. Therefore, according to him, political parties must be prepared for anything. He recalled that even in 2024, there were several situations that could have led to an early election, but ultimately that didn't happen.
