FinMin: State-budget Deficit Deepened to €6.366 billion in December 2024

Bratislava, January 3 (TASR) - The state-budget deficit deepened from €5.138 billion in November to €6.366 billion in December 2024, the Finance Ministry reported on Friday, adding that this figure was €1.309 billion lower year-on-year (y-o-y). State-budget incomes reached €24.457 billion at the end of last December, while expenditures stood at €30.823 billion. "Although incomes were lower than planned, the deficit was €1.249 billion lower than the one projected for 2024," stated the ministry. The state collected €18.352 billion in taxes in 2024. Of this, the highest proportion as usual came from value-added tax, bringing in €9.833 billion. Excise taxes brought €2.702 billion into state coffers last year. Private individuals transferred €3.453 billion in personal income tax, while the amount of corporate tax collected was €4.768 billion. Incomes from withholding tax reached €529.7 million last year. The solidarity contribution from activities in the oil, natural gas, coal and refinery sectors stood at €387.7 million. The special levy from businesses operating in regulated branches amounted to €562.2 million y-o-y. The state's income from the Recovery and Resilience Plan amounted to €907.2 million. Revenues from the EU budget totalled €3.225 billion y-o-y. The ministry registered incomes from dividends at €448.4 million last year. The cost of state-debt servicing was €1.189 billion in 2024. State-budget expenditures related to drawing EU funds amounted to €3.009 billion. Expenditures related to drawing money from the Recovery and Resilience Plan reached €936.3 million y-o-y. Payments to the EU budget totalled €826.1 million in 2024. ko/df
