Gabriel Machlica Becomes New Head of Financial Policy Institute

Bratislava, January 4 (TASR) - The Finance Ministry's Financial Policy Institute (IFP) has a new director as this position is to be temporarily held by Gabriel Machlica, who's replaced current director Jan Remeta, the Finance Ministry reports on its website. Remeta is returning to his former position as deputy director. Machlica is an economist who has spent the last ten years working at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Most recently, he was senior economist responsible for Austria and Turkey. He joined the OECD in 2014 and has held a number of positions in the economics department, including economist for the UK, Hungary, Israel, Slovakia, Brazil, Belgium and Portugal, where he was involved in economic policy assessment, macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. The new IFP head also has experience from the Finance Ministry where he previously held senior positions at the Financial Policy Institute and the Value for Money Unit. am/mcs/ko
