Bratislava, January 5 (TASR) - The coalition Voice-SD is a different party than Smer-SD or the Slovak National Party (SNS), Voice-SD leader Matus Sutaj Estok has told in an interview for TASR, adding that the fact that the two social democracies are substantiated was shown in the general election.
"I think that the legitimacy of two social democracies was shown in the general election. Although the election was won by Smer-SD, we achieved a record result for a new party, namely 15 percent, meaning that voters have answered this question and we will pursue our own policy," said Sutaj Estok.
Sutaj Estok views discord in the coalition as natural, as Voice-SD is different from Smer-SD and SNS and every coalition partner has its priorities and demands.
The Voice-SD leader also responded to the statement by Czech ex-president Milos Zeman, who called the existence of two social democracies in one country "abnormal", recommending the parties to merge. "I think he's a wise man, but I disagree with him on this," he said. According to Sutaj Estok, Voice-SD has no ambitions to merge with Smer-SD, but it is possible that Voice-SD will be the one that "swallows" Smer-SD in a few decades, after [Smer-SD leader] Robert Fico quits politics.
Voice-SD pushed in the coalition for as soon as possible approval of the thirteenth pension. It also wants the minimum wage to reach €1,000 by the end of this term. Sutaj Estok claims that fighting NGOs is not important to Voice-SD, but that it wants to fight for single mothers, young families and pensioners.
