Bratislava, January 7 (TASR) - The Interior Ministry plans to strengthen the capacities of the foreigners police, TASR has learnt in an interview with Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD), who added that the Slovak labour market needs skilled foreign workers. "If we want to do something about the labour market, it naturally requires investment from the state. I believe that it will pay off many times over if we manage to resolve the shortage," said the minister. According to him, a previously discussed issue with the reservation system of the foreigners police is partly about communication. He stated that foreigners often register for an appointment but fail to show up without notifying the police in advance, thereby wasting time. The minister noted that the system's resilience against abuse has been improving. "It's not yet in a perfect condition, but I believe that the system works much better than it did some time ago," added Sutaj Estok. The Slovak Towns Union previously approached the Interior Minister with a request to activate a reservation system for registering foreigners applying for residence in Slovakia and to accept applications at foreigners police departments. The minister recently confirmed a reported case in which appointment slots at the foreigners police were being "traded". lin/df
