Bratislava, January 8 (TASR) - The coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) fully supports Premier Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) activities heading towards acceptance of the new challenges in Slovakia's foreign-political orientation, SNS spokesperson Zuzana Skopcova has told TASR in reaction to the premier's plan to issue a joint stance on Slovakia's foreign-political orientation.
"The European Union (EU) must undergo reform, and it's obvious that the political garnitures in its individual countries are changing and are openly talking about changes in the EU and in NATO," stated Skopcova.
SNS views it as important for the opinions of the top three constitutional officials to reflect these changes, pulling along the whole political spectrum of the EU. "If the EU wants to compete with the USA, Russia and China, its policy on key positions must change," added Skopcova.
Fico wants to propose that the top constitutional officials and chairmen of the coalition parties should state a position that will define the content and quality of Slovakia's foreign policy orientation and the principles that guide Slovakia in foreign affairs. The premier himself announced this in a video posted on a social network on Tuesday (January 7). According to him, this should be a reaction to the rise of views other than those promoted by Brussels and to a denial of basic democratic rules.
