Bratislava, January 8 (TASR) - The 'Slovakia' party views the move by other opposition parties to initiate a special House session regarding Slovakia's foreign policy orientation to be too little, MP Michal Sipos ('Slovakia', 'For the People and the Christian Union/KU) told a news conference on Wednesday.
Sipos said that his party offered the remaining opposition parties its 14 signatures to convene a special House session aimed at dismissing Robert Fico (Smer-SD) from the prime-ministerial post immediately after he returned from his trip to Moscow.
"What else does Fico have to do? Are we waiting until he brings Russian soldiers here, as was the case in 1968, writes an invitation letter to them along with [MP Lubos] Blaha and kisses [Russian President Vladimir] Putin here on the Main Square, or are we waiting for our NATO partners to tell us to 'go away'?", asked Sipos.
Despite its reservations, 'Slovakia' MPs will take part in the special House session and "unequivocally" vote for the resolution presented by the opposition parties.
The opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS), Christian Democrats (KDH) and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) parties announced on Wednesday that they are initiating a special House session aimed at confirming Slovakia's foreign anchoring in the European Union (EU) and NATO. They are doing so in reaction to the premier's trip to Moscow, his meeting with Putin and recent statements.
