Bratislava, January 8 (TASR) - Families with several children will suffer the most from the consolidation measures, which have been in force since the beginning of this year, the opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) stated on Wednesday, adding that the standard of living will fall most significantly for families with three children that will lose €740 this year.
"Families with three children will suffer the most from the consolidation this year. They will have €740 less this year. This means that they will buy fewer goods and services than they could have bought, thus their standard of living will fall. Families with two children will lose €718 this year, families with one child will lose €333. Single-parent families with two children will lose €397 this year," said MP and KDH economic expert Jozef Hajko, adding that the calculations were based on official data from the Finance Ministry and calculations of the Budgetary Responsibility Council.
Hajko noted that the measures from the consolidation package and the adjustment of the tax bonus have an impact on the reduction of the living standards of families. "We'll be pushing this year for the scrapping of the financial transaction tax, which is due to come into force as of April 1. We'll be pushing to keep the tax bonus as it was last year, to keep the parental pension, which is to be scrapped this year. We'll also be pushing for the tax system to be simplified to accommodate entrepreneurs. Finally, the aid that the government provides to the population must be targeted," said Hajko.
