Bratislava, January 9 (TASR) - The opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party has called on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to dismiss Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) regarding the situation with the home ownership registry, TASR has learnt from the party's media department.
"The home ownership registry scandal is a total disgrace. Interior Minister Sutaj Estok is politically responsible for this failure. We'll call on Premier Fico today to dismiss the interior minister from his post. At the same time, we'll seek to dismiss Minister Sutaj Estok in Parliament. Since taking up office, he's been unable to manage his role, constantly failing, and people across Slovakia are suffering because of it," stated PS leader Michal Simecka.
The Interior Ministry reported that home ownership registry services were unavailable on Tuesday (January 7). On Wednesday (January 8), the Interior Ministry confirmed that the information system of the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority, used by the land registry departments of district offices, had been targeted by a large-scale cyberattack from abroad. As a preventive measure, the land registry offices have been temporarily closed.
The case of suspected unauthorised interference with the real estate ownership computer system is being investigated by the Office for the Fight against Organised Crime (UBOK).
