Bratislava, January 9 (TASR) - The Security Council will meet on Friday (January 10), Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) confirmed at a news conference held during his working visit to Brussels on Thursday.
Fico stated this in connection with the situation following the attack on the information system of the Geodesy, Cartography, and Cadastre Office (UGKK), adding that the government officials will comment on the issue on Friday.
"I communicated with all the parties concerned. I think they received clear instructions in the morning that they should communicate with the public and provide it with the necessary information," said the premier, adding that no country can avoid such attacks.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) promised to provide more detailed information on the situation following Friday's meeting of the Security Council as well.
UGKK and the Interior Ministry on Wednesday (January 8) confirmed that UGKK's information system, which is used by land registry departments of district offices, had been hit by a large-scale cyber-attack from abroad. The offices of land registry departments have been temporarily closed as a precaution.
UGKK chairman Juraj Celler told a news conference earlier on Thursday that no alterations to the home ownership database are being made, neither the owners nor ownership relationships are being changed. The Interior Ministry said that it bears no responsibility for the office's operation.
The Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) is dealing with this case of suspected unauthorised interference with the real estate registry computer system.
