Remisova: Property of Citizens Might Be in Danger in Wake of Hacker Attack

Bratislava, January 9 (TASR) - The property of the people is in danger in the wake of a hacker attack on the Office of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, with the website oversi.gov.sk shut down as well, a fact that raises a question whether this is the outcome of the attack as well, MP Veronika Remisova (Slovakia-For the People-KU coalition) stated at a press conference on Thursday. Because of these developments, Remisova wants to oust Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok and Informatisation Minister Richard Rasi (both Voice-SD) in Parliament. According to the party, head of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Office Juraj Celler is incompetent. "In essence, he was unable to answer even basic questions, but he said it clearly, in the hope that people don't understand what's at stake. He said that they need to look into the integrity match between the data and backups, which, translated to Slovak, means that they're not sure whether the data that were in the Cadastre match those of the backups," thinks Remisova. The opposition representatives are concerned that the state administration doesn't know whether data from applications tended to by the Cadastre recently are still at its disposal. Former Cadastre head Jan Mrva, who ran in the parliamentary election on behalf of the party, thinks that data submitted in last week might be lost. mf
